Memory Filming is based in Brentford, London, and travels to Leicester and Leicestershire for photography and film. The crew arrives the night before, so nobody is stuck on the M1 while the Milni or the Baraat is starting.
We do not have a Leicester office and we will not pretend otherwise. What we do have is twenty five years of Asian weddings. Khurram Iftikhar has filmed 9,700 weddings since 2000, including 3,300 Asian ceremonies across six traditions. Leicester is around 100 miles from the studio, and most of what a wedding needs is knowing what happens next in the ceremony, not living nearby.
Leicester is also a city where the community is large. At the 2021 census, 126,421 Leicester residents, 34.3 per cent of the city, described themselves as Indian, with a further 12,673 Pakistani and 7,055 Bangladeshi. A community that size usually means big families and a wedding that runs over several days, so we plan coverage event by event.
The calendar matters too. Belgrave Road, the Golden Mile, is where much of the jewellery and outfit shopping happens, and the council describes the Diwali celebrations there as one of the largest outside India. Check your wedding date against the Diwali dates before you fix it.
Gurdwara, mandir or masjid, and what we do in each
Each place of worship sets its own rules, so we agree ours with the people who run it weeks before the day.
- 01
Anand Karaj
We clear photography and film conditions with the Granthi and the committee at your gurdwara, for example one such as Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib on East Park Road. Heads are covered and shoes are off. During the four laavan we keep to the side, with two operators so no pass is covered from one angle only. The Milni and the Doli happen outside, and we plan them as separate moments.
- 02
Hindu ceremonies
A mandap fire, coloured drapes and a ceremony of several hours make some of the hardest light in wedding work. We light for it instead of fighting it, and we cover the Haldi at home as well as the ceremony itself.
- 03
Nikah and Walima
The Nikah is shot on long lenses from the back of the room, with no flash and nobody asked to repeat it. We also have a service of female wedding photographer and videographer London.
- 04
Gujarati celebrations
Garba and Jago nights are fast, loud and dark. We plan for movement and mixed light.
- 05
Home functions
Mehndi, Pithi and Maiyaan happen in small rooms full of relatives. We work quietly so the house does not feel like a set.
- 06
Receptions
At a large reception the entrances happen once and fast. We agree the stage list with the family beforehand so nobody important is left out because the queue ran long.
What the coverage looks like
We do not publish prices because no two of these weddings are the same. Tell us the date, the venue and how many events you are running, and we send an itemised quote with nothing to decode.
1. One day
- Around ten hours. Photography, film or both. Crew travels the night before. Digital delivery.
Full day
- Around fourteen hours. Both sides covered at once. Album and feature film. Documentary edit as well as highlights.
Multi event
- Mehndi, Haldi, Sangeet, the ceremony and the reception. One team throughout, across more than one venue or city if that is how it falls.

Twenty-five years in the room
Why couples book a London crew for Leicester
The ceremony knowledge travels. The postcode does not decide whether someone knows when the laavan are about to begin.
9,700 weddings and 3,300 Asian ceremonies
Twenty five years of watching what happens next.
Half the guests often come from London anyway
Many Leicester weddings have one family travelling in.
You can watch full weddings first
Our recent films are mostly London and the South East. Judge us on that work in the portfolio before you book.

Questions
Before you ask.
Do you photograph Asian weddings in Leicester?
Yes. We cover Sikh, Hindu, Muslim and Gujarati weddings in Leicester and Leicestershire with photography and film from one crew. The studio is in Brentford, so the crew travels up the night before.
Are you based in Leicester?
No. We are a London studio, and we would rather say so. If your wedding is a single day in one building and budget is tight, a local photographer whose work you like is a sensible choice. If the ceremony is complex or runs across several days, experience of that specific ceremony counts for more than the postcode.
Do you charge extra for travel to Leicester?
Travel is built into the quote at the start, not added afterwards. Tell us the venue and the number of events and the quote covers getting there.
Do you offer photography and videography together?
Yes, and most couples choose both. One crew follows one plan across the day, so the film and the photographs match.
Can you cover an Anand Karaj at a Leicester gurdwara?
Yes. We agree photography and film conditions with the Granthi and the committee well before the day, and we use two operators so the laavan are covered from more than one side.
Do you cover both the bride and groom preparations?
Yes. On a full day both sides are covered at once, with separate crew members at each location.
