What changes, and what doesn't
A destination wedding trades a venue we know for a backdrop nowhere in London can match. The trade is worth making, but only if it is planned for.
What changes: unfamiliar venues, travel and kit logistics, a different climate and a different light, and vendors we have not worked with before. What does not change is what we know about your ceremony, or how the finished work looks.
We have filmed across the UK, the Highlands, the Lake District, the Cotswolds and the coast, through Europe in Italy, Spain, Portugal, France and Greece, across South Asia, and in tropical destinations further out.
For each one we scout remotely with the venue, work out the local rules and permits, plan around the light at that latitude and season, travel with backup equipment, and where it makes sense bring in a local crew to extend the coverage.
What the destination changes
The specifics that catch out crews who have only worked at home.

Beach and tropical
Salt spray and humidity are hard on equipment, and the light swings from unusable at noon to extraordinary at five. We seal the kit and build the schedule around the weather, including the rain.

Mountain and altitude
Batteries behave differently, sunrise and sunset move, and the light quality is exceptional if you are set up in time for it. Power management is the real constraint.

Europe and South Asia
Documentation for the crew, electrical compatibility, international insurance, and a local liaison who can actually talk to the venue.

UK destinations
Scotland and the Lakes give you the best backdrops in Britain and the least reliable weather. We plan a wet-weather version of every outdoor moment.

Remote venues
Getting crew, cameras and power to somewhere genuinely remote is a logistics problem before it is a filming one. We build in contingency days.

Two countries, one wedding
A ceremony abroad and a reception at home is common. We either travel for both or work with a second crew, and cut the whole thing as one film.

Destination coverage is quoted with travel itemised separately and transparently, flights, accommodation and ground transport, shown as themselves.

Travel is quoted separately and itemised in full. You will always see what the travel costs and what the work costs.

Why us, a long way from home
Your destination wedding is not our first. It is somewhere past our five thousandth.
We have worked in these conditions
Tuscan villas, Scottish castles, backwaters, resorts and hill stations. We know what humidity, altitude, heat and salt do to equipment, because we have had them do it.
We plan the logistics properly
Visas, insurance, permits, power, and the relationships with local vendors that make a venue cooperative rather than obstructive. Most destination problems are planning failures, not filming ones.
The film still looks like your film
Same crew, same grade, same understanding of your ceremony. A destination wedding should not mean a different-looking film from the one you would have had at home.

Destination coverage needs long lead times, for us and for you. Confirm the destination, the date and the venue, and we start on logistics.

Video call with the venue about light, layout and access, research on local customs and permits, and travel and accommodation confirmed.

The shot list adjusted for the location, the crew confirmed, and equipment plus backups checked against what the destination will do to them.

Footage travels home with redundancy, then the normal post-production run, six to eight weeks to the finished work.

Before you ask.
How much does travel add?
It depends entirely on where and when. We itemise it, flights, accommodation, ground transport, separately from the coverage itself, so you can see exactly what the travel costs rather than finding it folded into one number.
Do we pay for your flights and accommodation?
Yes, that is standard for destination work. Some couples book our accommodation directly alongside their own block; otherwise we invoice it. Either way it is agreed in writing before anything is booked.
How far ahead should we book?
Six to twelve months for anything international. Travel coordination and permits genuinely need that runway, and the good dates go first.
What if the weather ruins an outdoor ceremony?
We plan the wet-weather version in advance with you and the venue, backup locations and timing shifts agreed beforehand, so the decision on the day is quick and calm rather than a scramble.
Can you work with a local crew?
Yes, and for large multi-day destination weddings we often do. We lead and edit, and bring in local crew to extend the coverage, which also helps with venues and language.
What if equipment is damaged in transit?
We are insured and we travel with backups. In twenty-five years it has rarely been an issue, precisely because we do not travel with a single set of anything.
Ceremony abroad, reception in London, can you do both?
Yes, and it is common. We either travel for the ceremony and return for the reception, or work with a second crew at one end. Either way it is cut and graded as one film.
