An unusual backdrop for a Hindu wedding: formal college halls more commonly associated with academic history than with a mandap and a sacred fire. That contrast at Dulwich College shaped how the day got filmed, lighting planned carefully around the hall's existing interior conditions rather than relying on any daylight coming through.
The saat phere, seven rounds around the sacred fire, gave a clear structure to build the coverage around, wide shots to hold the full ritual and closer framing for individual reactions as each round completed. August scheduling meant working in a busier stretch of wedding season, and advance planning kept this particular shoot unhurried despite that. Family involvement throughout the ceremony ran deep, parents and relatives guiding specific rituals at different points, and the footage kept that presence clearly visible. The reception afterward shifted the day's register entirely, celebration replacing ceremony, and Dulwich College's setting supported that story without ever pulling attention away from the couple at its centre.
