Four Lavaan hymns, each one circled around the Guru Granth Sahib. An Anand Karaj comes with its own structure built in, and you know the rhythm before it starts. At Wrest Park the gurdwara-style setup went up inside a marquee on the grounds, so sightlines needed real planning, cameras kept low and off to the side so nothing broke the feeling of a sacred space rather than an event.
The kirtan set the pace for each round, and we let the audio breathe in the edit rather than cutting on every beat. Ramandeep and Karan's families brought colour into the room, dupattas, turbans, the gold that runs through a Sikh wedding's palette, and the room held all of it without competing. After the fourth Lavaan the whole room shifts, applause, everyone standing, and that turn from stillness to celebration happens in seconds and never quite the same way twice. Photos moved out onto the estate's lawns before the evening reception, historic house as backdrop. Two very different tones live in this one film, reverence and joy, and we tried to give each its own honest weight.
